We fitted our BLE trackers to a group of Uber Eats delivery riders' bikes here in South Africa. Delivery riders are prime targets — bikes left running, parked curbside, gone in seconds. Within a short window, three of those bikes were stolen.

Because the trackers gave off no detectable signal, the thieves never found and removed them — the way they routinely do with GPS units. The riders followed the location data and all three bikes were recovered.

What is BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)? +

BLE is a wireless technology built for tiny power use and short, quiet bursts of communication — not constant broadcasting. Because it isn't pumping out a GPS/GSM signal, the scanners thieves use to locate trackers have nothing to lock onto. It's the same family of technology behind popular item-finders, applied here specifically to protecting vehicles and high-value assets.

If there's no signal, how is my asset tracked? +

Through a crowdsourced Bluetooth network. As your tag passes near other Bluetooth-enabled devices in the network, those devices anonymously and securely relay its location to you. The denser the area — like SA's cities and suburbs — the more frequent the updates. No SIM card and no airtime are involved.

Do I pay a monthly subscription? +

No. Our devices are a once-off purchase with no contracts, no SIM cards and no monthly fees. You buy the device, you own the protection.

How long does the battery last? +

It depends on the device — our range spans from a few months up to 36 months of battery life. You choose the unit that fits what you're protecting and how long you want between any maintenance.

Why is this better than a GPS tracker for theft? +

GPS trackers have to transmit to report location, and that transmission is exactly what thieves scan for and remove.
